Neurocritical Care Subspecialty Certification

The medical specialty of Neurocritical Care is devoted to the comprehensive, multisystem care of the critically ill patient with neurological diseases and conditions. ABEM-certified physicians attain subspecialty certification in Neurocritical Care by meeting the eligibility criteria, fulfilling specific credential requirements, and passing the Neurocritical Care Certification Examination. The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) develops and administers the subspecialty certification examination in Neurocritical Care, while ABEM is responsible for credentialing its candidates.
